Professional Biography

Korie Burgess is originally from Anniston, Alabama. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriscience Education and Agricultural Sciences from Auburn University, followed by a Master’s in Agricultural and Extension Education and Evaluation from Louisiana State University.

She currently serves as an Academic Advisor for Equine Science and Management students, where she supports students through course selection, degree progression, and involvement on campus. She also advises incoming students during BBN Orientation and helps them navigate the many resources the university offers. With a background as an orientation leader in undergrad and a graduate assistant who thrived on student interaction, she discovered a true passion for higher education. Her goal is to be a reliable support system and sounding board for students—something she wished she had during her own academic journey.

A recent professional highlight includes being selected to attend the New Professionals Institute, where she will network with peers from across the country and sharpen her skills to become an even stronger advisor.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her dog, Remi, as well as hiking, reading, cooking, and exploring new coffee shops. She also hopes to become more involved in her community through local food pantries and agricultural literacy initiatives.
