Event Description

The Fall 2023 Experience Equine Day will take place on Friday, October 20th - Don't miss your chance to learn more about UK's Equine Science & Management program, meet our faculty, staff, students, and alumni, and tour our facilities and local industry!


Experience Equine Day is a full day-long experience meant to immerse future wildcats in the Lexington equine industry and share more information on admissions, curriculum, student life, careers, and more with UK's Equine Science and Management program.

Tentative Itinerary:

7:45 a.m. Check-in begins at E.S. Good Barn
Equine Clubs and Teams Meet and Greet
Light refreshments served
8:45 a.m. Welcome and Overview of the Day
9:00 a.m. On-Campus Group Tours
11:00 a.m. Equine Programs Overview
11:30 a.m. Lunch hosted by the UK Equine Alumni Affiliate Network
12:30 p.m.

Split into tracks for afternoon programming

Split into tracks for afternoon programming –

  1. Future Wildcats – Off campus industry tours via shuttle bus to Rood and Riddle Veterinary Hospital and Spy Coast Farm
  2. Parents – On campus info sessions on incorporating the pre-vet track into the major, LLP, student life and equine careers/internship opportunities
3:45 p.m. Parents to travel to UK Equine Facilities
4:30 p.m. Tour of UK Equine Farm Facilities
5:00 p.m. Question and Answer Session
5:30 p.m. Wrap Up an Closing Remarks

Important notes:

This program is intended and geared for current high school seniors.

Please note that we only have a limited number of spots available!  As a result, student participants are limited to only one guest (e.g., parent, guardian, teacher, agent, etc.) so that more students may be able to experience the event.  Registration may adjust/halt/close based on anticipated number who plan to attend.
